Montreal Reporter Pat Hickey's Tires Slashed at Flyers Game

Hockey fever is causing some problems in Philadelphia. And while many Pennsylvania personal injury attorneys are too busy celebrating Philadelphia's brutal win over the Montreal Canadiens last weekend, the behavior at Game One is only mildly indicative of what could happen as the games proceed.

Fans of the Montreal Canadiens are known for being...umm... shall we say, "rambunctious?" I know firsthand. I was in Montreal the last time the Canadiens won the Stanley Cup. There were riots along St. Laurent Street, as jubilant Canadiens fans looted stores in celebration.

But were we to expect the same from Philadelphia fans? Perhaps, after winning 6-0, it might be fair to assume that Flyers fans were a bit "jubilant."

According to this rant by a Montreal Gazette writer , it would seem as though Flyers fans are capable of rioting as hard as their Eastern Conference rivals.

Pat Hickey, a writer for the Montreal Gazette, found himself on the receiving end of hockey-fever induced vandalism last weekend. His car was trashed after the game. He went to his car, only to find that his tire had been slashed, a hubcap had been snapped in half, the bug deflector had been ripped from the hood and the windows were covered with beer and soda.

But that wasn't the worst of Pat Hickey's woes for the night. A Flyers fan (of course, that's speculation coming from a Canadiens fan here) tore off his license plate.

Now how do you expect Pat Hickey to cross back into Canada without a license plate? Those are some emotional distress damages right there, I tell you! And let's not forget the tort of conversion and possibly trespass!

I wonder if Pat Hickey plans to retain the services of a Pa personal injury lawyer or if he will lament on his journalistic platform, The Montreal Gazette. Of course, before he can bring any action, he would have to find out who the perpetrators were. And let's be real-- I highly doubt he'll be able to find out who damaged his car.
